In ‘Meet Ledgnd’, we speak with various Ledgnd colleagues. You’ll get a glimpse into their work at Ledgnd, their motivations, and ambitions. In this article, we get to know Jordi van der Meijden, one of the company’s first team members and a driving force behind Ledgnd’s growth.
Meet Ledgnd Jordi van der Meijden
From chores to crops: the start of Ledgnd
Jordi’s entrepreneurial story began early. During his MBO studies in Account Management he founded KlusmetPlus with a few classmates, an initiative where young people helped the elderly with small jobs across Zeeland. “I have always wanted to start something of my own,” Jordi says. “After graduation, I decided to focus on KlusmetPlus full-time. Around that time, I got back in touch with Ramón, whom I knew from my internship at LuxImprove.” LuxImprove, founded by Ramón’s father Richard van de Vrie, specializes in professional lighting for buildings and public spaces.
What started as a small idea soon grew into something bigger. “Ramón asked if I wanted to help with a new project in greenhouse horticulture. I had a week to think about it, but after a few days, I was already standing in the greenhouse taking team photos.”
By January 2020, Jordi officially joined the freshly founded Ledgnd. “We literally started with two desks at LuxImprove in Zeeland, sometimes worked from Ramón’s place in Rotterdam, and later from my attic. Everything was new.” The first years were all about pioneering: learning by doing. The idea for MyLedgnd was born out of a simple frustration, Jordi explains: “During light trials, poor results were often blamed on the lamps, while the climate in the greenhouse was not adjusted for LED at all. We started placing sensors from different manufacturers, but that meant using three different dashboards for one trial. That just did not make sense.”
And out of that annoyance came innovation: “We wanted to bring everything together in one clear overview. That is how MyLedgnd was born, a platform that gives growers instant insight into what is really happening in their greenhouse.”
A workday full of energy
Those early days were a crash course in entrepreneurship. “We did everything ourselves, from finances and cold calling to installations and client visits.” Today, Jordi has evolved into a project manager and process optimizer at Ledgnd. His days are diverse and fast-paced. “I support Niels with procurement, manage projects, and handle sensor integration in our software platform MyLedgnd. I am also involved in automating internal processes.” It is the variety that keeps him sharp: “Some days I am fine-tuning our workflows, other days I am knee-deep in technical setups at growers’ facilities. No two days are the same and that is exactly what makes it fun.”
Working and growing together
For Jordi, Ledgnd’s growth becomes most tangible during large-scale projects. “You can really see how far we have come. We have developed a product that helps the sector move forward and creates real impact.”
He is particularly proud of how MyLedgnd evolved. “It started as a simple idea to bring more visibility to what is happening inside the greenhouse. Now, it is a fully developed platform that we’re genuinely proud of.”
With growth also comes responsibility. “We think bigger now than we did in the early days and that brings more pressure too. But that is part of it. The great thing is: we are doing this together.”
Looking ahead
There’s no doubt that Ledgnd has grown significantly since its start five years ago. But what about the next five? Jordi has a clear vision: “I hope we will keep expanding, building a team where every discipline is under one roof. What we used to do with three people will eventually be divided across dedicated departments. My focus will be on internal structure, project management, and process optimization. That is what I find most rewarding.”
His advice for new team members? “We are a young, ambitious team that really makes an impact. When you join Ledgnd, you are not just another link in the chain, you are helping build something meaningful that contributes to a more sustainable world.”
”"The best thing about working at Ledgnd? Every day, we build something that did not exist yesterday, together with people who are just as driven to move the industry forward.”

Jordi outside of work
Originally from Zeeland, Jordi now lives in the Westland with his girlfriend, who has been by his side since before Ledgnd even began. “She has been there through every step. Building Ledgnd feels a bit like entering a marriage, you pour your heart in it, but she supports me in every choice I make.”
Finding balance has become important to him: “In the early years, I was basically on 24/7. Now I force myself to plan better and that helps me keep a healthier balance. Even working from home occasionally does wonders.”
Outside of work, Jordi’s passions include smart gadgets, cycling, and music. Step into his car, and you will feel like you are entering a small festival. “From Gerard Joling to hardstyle, it all depends on the mood. My favorite act is Soundrush: I even got a private set in their studio once!” But when the volume’s turned down, Jordi often switches to financial podcasts, as he is always curious to learn something new while on the road.
When he is not blasting beats, he is often on the bike. “Cycling clears my head. It is the perfect balance to busy workweeks.” And he already has a dream trip in mind: “A long ride through France, Spain, or Italy with my friends, that would be an incredible adventure.”
“Even at home, a touch of greenhouse life remains. I take care of the plants including our olive tree, which needs plenty of attention. I guess greenhouse horticulture is in my blood after all.”
